Pain relief and relaxation

effectively and painlessly

Acupuncture is a form of treatment originally developed in Chinese medicine, which is used to treat many different ailments. In Western medicine, the benefits of acupuncture only started to be recognized a few decades ago.

In Chinese medicine, pain is a sign that the movement of the body’s energy, known as Qi, has been blocked. The meridians, known as the channels of the body, contain acupoints that are stimulated with thin needles and this way Qi is allowed to flow freely. In addition to pain symptoms, acupuncture treats numerous diseases and is also used as a fertility treatment. Important factors in treatment planning are Yin & Yang and the five basic elements; fire, water, wood, metal and earth.

In recent decades, acupuncture has been studied a lot also in Western medicine from a neurophysiological point of view. Although Western medicine does not recognize the previously mentioned factors, acupuncture has been found to have calming effects on the nervous system, and thus it has been noticed that it brings relief to various pain and tension states.

In Western medicine, acupuncture is used for pain relief and relaxation and can be used to treat e.g. the following ailments:

  • Migraine
  • Different forms of headache
  • TMD problems (mastication muscles)
  • Sleep disorders
  • Chronic pain
  • Neck-shoulder tension
  • Other muscular tension and pain conditions
  • Joint pain
